REFLECTION DOCUMENT
POPULARITY OF STALL/ PERFORMITY
On
the day of the market palace our team worked together to successfully deliver a
space for relaxing and enjoying performances.
Overall we feel that our stall gained huge popularity. The musicians on
the day catered for different genres. Our team worked hard to collect equipment
including lights, stage, trusses, TV and the PA system as well as extension
cords in order to set everything up. We worked together to set up the
decorations to create a club Tropicana vibe. On the day mike organised the
media run down of acts on the TV. Steph made sure the acts knew what time they
were playing and made sure they were ready at least 10mins before hand. Tama
was the MC and took care of music during intermission. While Zac, Nicole and
Suny made sure everything ran smoothly, encouraging people to pick a beanbag
and enjoy the music.
EFFORT V RETURN
Our aim was to fill the gap in the market
as no other group had suggested music. We had to scout musicians who would play
for free and plan set times accordingly. A lot of organization and
communication back and forth went into finding out what equipment we needed and
where we could source it. We planned
what decorations to use and make. Work went in to designing and promoting Club
Tropicana through posters, stickers and media. Overall our idea was well
executed and went even better than expected due to the organization we did
before hand. Everything ran smoothly. All the equipment we sourced worked well
together. Musicians played on time and did not run over there set times.
Throughout the day we had a consistent crowd relaxing on the beanbags we
provided. Everyone seemed to enjoy the overall vibe.
VISITOR NUMBERS. EXPECTATION V REALITY
Even though our group was non-profit we
still managed to have a large number of visitors to our area. We hoped that all
the musicians would have a crowd in front of them that they could play too.
Extra incentives were providing the beanbags so people could sit down and
watch. On the day we provided free lollies in a Tropicana bucket to hand out to
people in the market while informing them to check out the acts. In terms of
placement of our stage we requested that we could be in between food stalls so
that not only will they have a place to eat but can take in the music at the
same time. We feel that the organization put into our idea earlier made a big
contribution to the number of people who stopped by at Club Tropicana.
GROUP FUNCTIONING. WHAT WORKED WHAT DIDN’T
As a whole our team worked well together everyone
got along and did what they had to do to contribute. We communicated well
through various mediums i.e Facebook, Pinterest and our blog. As a group we
played on everyone’s strengths and what they were interested in, whether it be
creating props and being hands on or more communication and organizational
tasks. Things that didn’t work well was assuming or relying on someone else to
do a certain job. From the beginning we assumed that we could have a specific
area in the great hall but had been placed in a completely different area and
so had to adjust all our planning.
WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT FROM WORKING IN A
TEAM.
From working in a team for this assignment
we found out that delegating everyone a specific role within the group worked
well. Nicole was team leader and spent a lot of time communicating to the
facilitators and various people about stage equipment and organization of our
area. Zac being an industrial major focused on creating props for our stage.
Mike was the media coordinator, which involved creating posters, and an
exposure event page. Tama was involved video and print. Tama created videos of
the artists and video shown in the presentation during week 7 and also printing
out club Tropicana stickers to stick around campus. Steph was the electronic
developer this involved organizing the musicians and the musical equipment.
Suny was responsible for costumes and props.
WHAT WAS THE AUDIENCE RESPONSE.
From the crowd that we had in our area, it was
clear that the audience enjoyed the overall vibe. People were engaged in
watching the performances and interacting with the musicians. We had a lot of
people tell us afterwards that the performances were well done and that they loved
the decorative set.

FUSE TURNOUT
THE TURN OUT - CLUB TROPICANA
After weeks of preparation the day arrived for fuse to take place and it was a huge success due to the emails, texts and group meetings. Everything ran pretty smoothly from the set up to the musicians arriving on time and packing down.
Although we had a lot of equipment source from Massey we managed to work as a team to collect and set it up with the assistance of carl the maintenance man :)
Steph from internal coms played a large role in the actual organisation and confirmation of equipment and important information.
Lets take a look at the awesome turnout !!!

my response
How to cut Guillotine
CUTTING USING THE GUILLOTINE
As we have a significant area to cover with AstroTurf we need to cut the run off strips in order to create a square.
We went to the guillotine in the industrial workshop and talked to Ule in order to see how it could be cut.
- thick blade scalp
- guilloine
The only issue is that to put it through the guillotine the width is one 1 metre wide.
This is the thickness of the astro turf at it biggest thickness .

I have just contacted all the musicians and asked them what other equipment they need us to provide for them. I have also advised them on the times that they are playing on October 8th and to come prepared at least 10-15minutes before hand.
